Film

A film, also called a movie, motion picture or photoplay, is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to the phi phenomenon. This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession. A film is created by photographing actual scenes with a motion picture camera; by photographing drawings or miniature models using traditional animation techniques; by means of CGI and computer animation; or by a combination of some or all of these techniques and other visual effects. The word "cinema", short for cinematography, is often used to refer to the industry of films and filmmaking or to the art of filmmaking itself. The contemporary definition of cinema is the art of simulating experiences to communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty or atmosphere by the means of recorded or programmed moving images along with other sensory stimulations.

The process of filmmaking is both an art and an industry.

Motion Picture Magazine

Motion Picture was an American monthly fan magazine about film, published from 1911 to 1977. It was the first fan magazine. It was later published by Macfadden Publications.

History

Founded by Vitagraph studio head J. Stuart Blackton and partner Eugene V. Brewster, its original title was The Motion Picture Story Magazine.

The magazine was very successful from its inception with an initial run of 50,000 copies and a circulation of 200,000 by 1914. Writers were amazed at the outset to receive their checks for contributions almost immediately on acceptance, a policy on the part of Brewster that was effective in quickly inducing the highest grade fiction authors to become affiliated with the publication. Among its contributors were Rex Beach, Will Carleton and Horatio C. King.

The magazine's most successful column was entitled "The Answer Man" (written by a woman) that answered readers' questions about the film world. This was an innovation, the first of its kind in journalism.

Motion Picture is the tenth studio album by Swiss electronic duo Yello. The record was released on 25 October 1999 via Mercury Records.

Stock photography

Stock photography is the supply of photographs, which are often licensed for specific uses. It is used to fulfill the needs of creative assignments instead of hiring a photographer, often for a lower cost. Today, stock images can be presented in searchable online databases. They can be purchased and delivered online. Often, these photographs involve people, and are produced in studios using a wide variety of models posing as professionals, stereotypes, expressing common emotions and gesticulations, or involving pets. Other common stock photography niches include images related to travel and tourism, as well as conceptual photography.

Description

The stock photography industry was initially made up of several traditional agencies such as Getty Images and Corbis which have broad photo libraries that are supplied by primarily professional photographers.

There are also many alternative photo agencies which specialize in certain fields of stock photography, such as food, people, and animals.
